That was a fish eating your big. Every color from black, purple, red, wine and even pink will get these fish sucking that indicator down if its in the feeding lane and looks appealing. Balanced leeches under the bobber continue to remain king until these fish start feeding heavily on midges. 11 fish over 10lbs including this goreous specimen. Two midges pick up out of the water and roll out a lot easier than some of those bulky leech patterns. So if you hook a big fish, there are probably at least a few more around. If you haven’t got out this season you better come out soon while gettin’ is still good and the weather is nice ! Stripping will still be the beetles and boobies and most color variations. The smile says it all. They virtually disappeared from California’s central valley rivers and delta, when their habitat was altered and non native sunfish were introduced.
